Della Updike Honored During Pink Out

The 2018 basketball Pink Out game was a great success.  The varsity cheerleaders did a great job decorating the gym with pink ribbons, balloons, and signs.  The boys and girls basketball teams wore pink shooting shirts and pink shoelaces.  It was awesome to see the display of support that our community and school showed for cancer research and awareness.  In total, our fans gave $340 to Coaches vs. Cancer, an organization that is in partnership with the American Cancer Society to help defeat cancer.

Another highlight of the evening was the honoring of one of our local cancer survivors, Della Updike.  Della has been a local buisness owner, life-long resident, and one of Wilson’s number one supporters.  She is always selflessly serving in our community through church events, community events, and school events.  Della has fought and won her battle with breast cancer, and she is the model for perseverance and hard work for the students of Wilson High School.
